Roasted Hainan Chicken Rice (Whole Chicken)

When we talk about good food in Macau, we must mention our Southeast Asian Cuisine restaurants. Have been opened for less than a year, “Hong Jai Bing Sutt” owner created an eatery that combines Southeast Asian cuisine with a touch of the local Cha Chaan Tang culture. The owner continuously creates new speciality dishes, and recently the eatery has become a lot of resident’s “must-go” Instagrammable café.

RECOMMENDATION

Roasted Hainan Chicken Rice (Whole Chicken)

Usually cooks boil their chickens to make the Hainan Chicken but Hong Jai creatively decides to roast the chicken in order to make it crunchy on the outside instead. After dipping the meat in the Hainan chicken sauce, I finally understand why the dish is the hit of the town.

Banyan Nasi Lemak

When I first set my eyes on the dish, the green-coloured rice intrigued me. The Nasi Lemak is accompanied by curry chicken and other side dishes such as peanut, eggs, fish jerky and sambal sauce. Its portion is definitely enough for me.

Yuxiang stir-fried Silver Needle Noodles

Silver Needle Noodles is popular in Malaysia. After being stir-fried, the noodles are not too oily but still flavourful. I would recommend you to add some hot pepper oil to make it even tastier.

Mochi French Toast

If you want to have some sweets for afternoon tea, why don’t you try the eatery’s Mochi French Toast. The chewy mochi and the Milo crunchies provide the toast various textures. You should eat it as soon as it reaches the table, so you can pull out spider webs with the mochi in the toast. If you also order a Milo Dinosaur, then you have got yourself a milo feast for the child in you.

Durian lovers alert! Recently Hong Jai came out with a new series –Durian Custard Pineapple Bun, Buttered Pineapple Bun with Durian Pieces, and Durian Red Bean with Coconut Milk. Yes, there are two pineapple buns. The former has durian custard filling and the latter is buttered and has pieces of durian in it.

The Durian and Red Bean with Coconut Milk has a layer of milk foam and a tasteful of durian flavour. The shop owner purposely switches out the evaporated milk and replace it with coconut milk to make the beverage more refreshing. Durian lovers, you must not miss out on this.
