Signature Chicken Congee

San Kio area has always been a residential zone, but little do you know that it has a lot of restaurants hidden in the alleys there. Today, I am bringing y’all to an unconventional area, which has a secluded restaurant—Sun Shangxiang, where it currently only opens for dinner and midnight snack. A lot of residents of the area love bringing their friends and gathering them at the restaurant for a bowl of chicken congee.

RECOMMENDATION

Signature Chicken Congee (half chicken)

Sun Shangxiang uses “tradition” as its theme and its fresh and sweet chicken congee is its signature dish. You can choose between half or whole chicken. The congee base is very smooth, and the chicken has added another layer of freshness in the flavour.

Seafood Soup with Rice

The residents around the area always go for is its Seafood Soup with Rice. Before you start eating, the server will add-in some crunchy deep-fried rice cracker. The freshness of the seafood and the crunchiness of rice cracker bring a whole new level of flavour and texture to the dish.

Original Claypot Chickens

Macau people’s go-to midnight snack is the Original Claypot Chicken, and Sun Shangxiang always adds more vegetables to it. The claypot chicken is not too greesy, with a bowl of white rice, you will be eating bite after bite.

Typhoon Shelter Style Pig’s Trotters

Besides the signature dishes, a classic midnight snack is one of its stir-fried dishes. My personal favourite is the Typhoon Shelter Style Pig’s Trotter. The spiciness of the garlic and hot pepper accompanied with the evil pig’s trotters is the reason why the dish becomes a must-have for midnight-snack.

Other than that, they also have a couple more of stir-fried dishes. Don’t miss out on them!
