Fai Kei Cafe
Pork Chop Bun

Cantonese cafes (Cha chaan teng) are everywhere in Macau. You might run into one in just a few steps. Besides being many people’s daily diner, they also authentically reflect the local food culture in Macau. “Fai Kei” is located in the city center of Coloane and it has been in business for more than half a century. Back then, the Coloane population was only 3,000, so “Fai Kei” was definitely a major dinning location. Today, it’s still popu-lar. It’s busy from morning till night. The most impressive thing is that it offers almost all classic iconic Cha chaan teng dishes.

RECOMMENDATION

Pork Chop Bun

I can’t say for sure that the pork chop bun here is the best since everyone has his/her preference. However, all pork chops are prepared by the owner freshly everyday. He specifically chooses the pork back chops and thin them by his own hands. No artificial softener has been added during the process. They are very juicy and tender.

Char Siu with Scrambled Eggs on Rice

When it comes to my favorite dish, I miss “Fai Kei”’s Char Siu & Scrambled Eggs Rice everyday. The eggs are so nicely cooked, the soft runny yolk melts into the Char Siu. Take a big scoop with the steamy rice. I simply can’t stop eating bite after bite.
